Kabul Plastics exists in the factory district outside of Kabul.
It was once an industrial plant that produced products like shoes, polyester, piping and dishes. My grandfather, Abdul Rashid, ran this factory with his two younger brothers from 1972 until his death in 1979, when he was imprisoned and summarily executed by Afghanistan's first Communist regime. 23 years later, it felt as if they had just left.
